The Irish Hospital Sweepstakes is a lottery with it's payout based on the results of the Cambridgeshire horse race, run in Newmarket, England. Each of the lottery winners was guaranteed a payout of at least $2,966. First place is $150,000. Second place is $75,000. My grandfather, Tullio Franciotti was the holder of the third place horse, Laureate II, which paid out $50,000, a huge sum even by current standards.
